Five Engineers Announced As Cobalt All-American Scholars

The Golf Coaches Association of America has named Matt Buckley, Owen Himmer, Ryan Komp, Jacob Lindsay, and Rodrigo Muelas of the Rensselaer golf team as 2023-24 Cobalt Golf Division III All-America Scholars. To be eligible, a nominee must be a sophomore, junior, or senior both academically and athletically in NCAA Division I, II, III, and NAIA; take part in 50% of their team's competitive rounds; post with a certain per-round stroke average; and maintain a minimum cumulative career GPA of 3.20.

EMPAC Announces Fall 2024 Programs

EMPAC is pleased to announce its schedule of public presentations for the fall 2024 season! From August through December, the EMPAC Curatorial Program will present 20 opportunities in which audiences can explore the boundaries of art, science, and technology with its curators and artists-in-residence. The season begins with Laurie Anderson on August 29.

Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute presents Tanglewood Music Center’s Fromm Quartet at EMPAC

‘Storytelling and Memory’ features music inspired by Alzheimer’s Disease Presented by Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Storytelling and Memory will be performed by Tanglewood Music Center’s Fromm Quartet at the Curtis R. Priem Experimental Music and Performing Arts Center (EMPAC) at Rensselaer on Friday, August 2 at 7PM. Free admission, RSVP recommended.

Swimming & Diving Teams Recognized for Academic Excellence

The Rensselaer women's and men's swimming teams have been selected as College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Scholar All-America teams for the spring 2024 term; to earn the accolade, teams were required to post a cumulative team GPA of 3.0 or higher for the semester. Additionally, Mike Dowd of the RPI men's squad was individually named a CSCAA Division III Scholar All-American.

Former RPI Hockey Captain Named Head Coach of Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins

Former Rensselaer men's hockey captain Kirk MacDonald '07 has been named head coach of the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins of the American Hockey League (AHL). MacDonald, who was most recently the head coach of the Dubuque Fighting Saints of the United States Hockey League (USHL) the past two seasons, played from 2003-2007 with the Engineers.
