Seventy-Nine Earn League All-Academic Honors
The 2022 Liberty League Fall All-Academic Team has been announced, and 79 Rensselaer student-athletes were honored, with fall sports teams including field hockey and football, as well as men's and women's cross country and soccer, being recognized. Student-athletes must have at least sophomore athletic and academic standing at Rensselaer with a minimum grade point average of 3.30 to be selected.
2022-23 Men's Basketball Captains Revealed
TROY, N.Y. - The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) men's basketball team will have five captains for the 2022-23 season, ninth-year head coach Mark Gilbride has announced. Leading the Engineers, who begin their campaign with two games this weekend, are Jonny Angbazo, Dom Black, Will Fredericks, Brian Kelly, and Will Rubin. Black is a graduate student and the others are seniors.
Women's Basketball Loses First Game, 70-61
TROY, N.Y. - Utica University put four student-athletes in double figures in scoring, led by 18 points from Krissy Geraci, and the Pioneers defeated Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) 70-61 in a non-league women's basketball game at East Campus Arena. It was the first game of the season for both squads.

Johannes Goebel, hired as a consultant 2001, became the RPI facility's director in 2002, six years before it opened as an arts incubator, research space and campus venue.
Johannes Goebel, a champion of computer music in Germany who was hired at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 2001 as a consultant on what was described as the world's first university-based center for technology and the arts before being named its founding director the following year, is retiring in November.
