SoA RPI Faculty and Alumna featured at the Architecture Venice Biennale
Vena Cava, an installation by SoA RPI faculty Gustavo Crembil and alumna Mae ling Lokko shapes award-winning British Pavilion at the 2025 Architecture Venice Biennale.
Designed Gustavo Crembil, architect and SoA RPI Associate Professor, and Mae ling Lokko (RPI class 2016), material scientist, artist and Associate Professor at Yale, Vena Cava is a striking, contemplative installation featured in the British Pavilion’s exhibition GBR – Geology of Britannic Repair.
HASS Family Weekend Music Showcase on Saturday October 25
This program features the RPI Orchestra, Concert Choir, and Wind Symphony in a musical preview of works that will be included on the Dec. 6th RPI Holiday Concert, including Mark Camphouse's "A Movement for Rosa", Christopher Tin's "Baba Yetu", and Bedrich Smetana's "Die Moldau". Admission is free. Showcase starts at 2:30pm in DCC 308.

Manning and an ensemble of musicians build and rehearse the world premiere performance of the work utilizing the advanced spatial audio, video, and stage technologies of EMPAC Studio 1—Goodman.

Built-In Backup System Helps Muscles Counteract Fatigue
When you're running up stairs or out on a jog, your muscles eventually start to feel heavy and weak. That's fatigue setting in, a sign that the muscles’ energy reserves are becoming depleted. But a team of researchers led by Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) biology professor Doug Swank, Ph.D., have discovered something surprising: certain muscle fibers have a built-in backup system that fights back against fatigue, potentially helping us keep going when we'd otherwise have to stop.
