Rensselaer School of Architecture continues its Spring 2024 Lecture Series on Wednesday, April 17th, 5:00 p.m., at EMPAC with the lecture “The Shape of Things to Come” by Joron Lubin of Safdie Architects.

Jaron Lubin is a partner at Safdie Architects, providing a foundational role in the mission of the firm. Lubin is a frequent author, juror, and lecturer, collaborating on studios at the Harvard GSD with Moshe Safdie. Lubin is a distinguished alumnus of The University of Michigan, and UCLA, and is a crucial role in the methodologies, research, and architectural exploration carried out at Safdie Architects.

Safdie Architects is a world-renowned design studio focusing on the ability for architecture to be a timeless humane piece that is inherently connected to nature. Safdie Architects is founded on Moshe Safdie’s foundational metaphor: “For Everyone a Garden.” Safdie Architects is the culmination of an extended family of partners and colleagues, all working to bring together the firm’s mission of humane, connected, and contextually mindful architecture.

The Shape of Things to Come was a 1971 Newsweek article and is revitalized as a design studio taught at the Harvard GSD, taught by Moshe Safdie and Jaron Lubin. The Shape of Things to Come explores the role that the architect plays in shaping the built environment, specifically focusing on the transformative concepts of “all-season design.” Exploring the relationships of a drastically varying climate, sustainability, transformation and humanity are investigated in this topic.

We are excited to invite Jaron Lubin and look forward to seeing you at this incredible lecture.
