The Shift Whistle is Blowing! Time to go to work. Put on your authentic Tour-Ed Mine hard-hat and climb into a real coal mine car for a half-mile journey into a mining experience in a real Western Pennsylvania Coal Mine. The one-and-a-half-hour visit is given by experienced coal miners who will explain and demonstrate life as a coal miner from the 1850’s to the present. We’re planning a potluck picnic lunch prior to the tour, at 1 p.m. in the picnic area, weather permitting. Fried chicken and drinks will be provided. Come early if you want to explore! The Allegheny-Kiski Historical Society's Fleatique-flea and antiques market- in the Ira Wood Park located on the mine’s grounds. It is open from dawn to 2 p.m. This is a family event and guests are encouraged/welcome!
