Come by at 11:30am in Sage 5711 for a talk with Raquel Velho. The talk draws from Velho's new project on the social and political history of the Arecibo Observatory (AO). It aims to briefly share the scholarship from the history and sociology of science that is influencing Velho's thinking about the project — namely, how infrastructure studies and Latin American STS can expand Big Science histories to account for the contextually embedded and geopolitical dimensions of large research facilities.
