Math Sciences Department - Class of '27 Lecture Series | April 8 & April 9

Date: Tuesday, April 8, 2025 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM - The Class of '27 Lecture Series, established in 1960 to honor the first chair of the Math Sciences Department, holds two special lectures annually. Lecture I, on April 8, will present "Eigenmatrix for Unstructured Sparse Recovery". Lecture II, on April 9, features "NRandomness in phase estimation and Heisenberg-limited Hamiltonian learning", by speaker Lexing Ying from Stanford University.

2025 Romesh Diwan Lecture Series, The Economics Department Welcomes Guest Speaker Dr. Alfonso Flores-Lagunes | April 11

Higher schooling attainment is associated with better cognitive function at older ages, but it remains unclear whether the relationship is causal. This talk will present and discuss recent results that aim to pin down the causal part of this association using nonparametric bounds. Join the talk on April 11 in TROY 2018 from 2pm-3:15pm.

Honoring a Trailblazer: Garnet D. Baltimore Historical Marker Unveiling | April 15

Date: 4/15/2025 11:00 AM to 2:30 PM Join us for a powerful celebration of Garnet Douglass Baltimore, a pioneering civil engineer, member of the Rensselaer Alumni Hall of Fame, and the first African American graduate of RPI (Class of 1881). This special event will honor his enduring legacy with the unveiling of a New York State Historical Marker recognizing his remarkable contributions to engineering, landscape architecture, and the Troy community.
