BOSTON, Mass. — The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) women's soccer team opened the 2026 season with a 1-1 draw against Suffolk this afternoon at East Boston Memorial Park. The Engineers struck in the opening two minutes and controlled much of the offensive play, finishing with a 9-4 advantage in shots and a 5-1 edge in shots on goal.

In recognition of his transformational generosity and long-term commitment to ECSE, the department will be renamed the Douglas A. Mercer ’77 Department of Electrical, Computer, and Systems Engineering. A formal ceremony open to the RPI community will be held on October 9. More details will be shared in the coming weeks.
