October 20-24, 2025 We Will Not Be Composed is a multimedia performance created in collaboration with saxophonist and composer Stevie Manning, author and activist Soraya Chemaly, and new media artist Xuan to challenge perceptions of women’s anger in America. Manning and an ensemble of musicians build and rehearse the world premiere performance of the work utilizing the advanced spatial audio, video, and stage technologies of EMPAC Studio 1—Goodman.

Built-In Backup System Helps Muscles Counteract Fatigue
When you're running up stairs or out on a jog, your muscles eventually start to feel heavy and weak. That's fatigue setting in, a sign that the muscles’ energy reserves are becoming depleted. But a team of researchers led by Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) biology professor Doug Swank, Ph.D., have discovered something surprising: certain muscle fibers have a built-in backup system that fights back against fatigue, potentially helping us keep going when we'd otherwise have to stop.

He recently started a structured data project in the AI Knowledge team that is part of Microsoft CoreAI. In Microsoft Fabric he focused on ontology and graph systems, building scale-out graph systems for analytics and operational workloads (a project he incubated and spearheaded while originally at LinkedIn) as an architect and previously as a Partner Director of Engineering.

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. — Julianne Bleskoski of the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) women's cross country team continued her outstanding fall season with a third straight individual victory, taking first place in the DIII Gold 6000-meter race at the Augustana Interregional Invitational today. Meanwhile, a separate group of Engineer runners finished first out of 22 teams at the Western New England Golden Bear Invitational in Springfield, Mass.
