Computer Science Colloquia: William Regli - "Perspectives on AI Risk" | Sept. 17

Date: Wednesday, September 17, 2025 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM - Dr. Regli is a Professor of Computer Science at the University of Maryland at College Park, where he was the founding Executive Director (2018-2023) of the Applied Research Laboratory for Intelligence and Security---the University Affiliated Research Center (UARC) for the United States Department of Defense. In addition to the University of Maryland, he has held positions with the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), Lockheed Martin, AT&T, and Drexel University.

Date: Wednesday, September 17, 2025 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM - “From Biases to Opportunities: Leveraging Location-Based-Service (LBS) Data for Transportation Planning”. This presentation will provide an overview of the biases in the LBS data. Specifically, I will present data quality issues and their effects on the resulting mobility metrics that are commonly used in the planning process. I will also discuss how LBS data can aid Household Travel Survey (HTS) data and transform the field of transportation planning. More information provided at the seminar.
