As schools increasingly move to ban smartphones in classrooms, new research from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) suggests that there may be a more effective way to boost focus and academic engagement.

Professor Steven L. Tait, Ph.D., Chair of the Department of Chemistry, Herman T. Briscoe Professor of Chemistry, and Associate Director of the Electron Microscopy Center at Indiana University (IU), has been appointed Dean of RPI’s School of Science following a nationwide search.  

Nikhil Koratkar, Ph.D., the John A. Clark and Edward T. Crossan Professor of Engineering at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI), has been named a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC), one of the highest professional distinctions awarded by the world’s oldest chemical society.

The ISE Department is proud to announce that Dr. Jennifer Pazour has been named a Fellow of the Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers (IISE), one of the highest honors awarded by IISE. This prestigious recognition reflects Dr. Pazour’s sustained contributions to research, education, service, and leadership within the field of industrial and systems engineering. Her career centers around solving complex logistics and supply chain challenges through mathematical modeling and optimization.

Please be advised that HMA will be paving on Tuesday, August 5th, and Wednesday, August 6th. During this time, Cook Drive will be closed to all traffic, with the exception of emergency vehicles, from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM each day. Additionally, the West Lot will close on Tuesday at 6:00 AM and is scheduled to reopen Wednesday at 6:00 PM, weather permitting.
