In this seminar, Managers and Supervisors will learn from each other and our Facilitators about important topics such as the Employee Value Proposition and Employee Experience, the six fundamental Leadership competencies at Rensselaer, and experience several “Supervisory Simulations” with colleagues. In addition, the importance of coaching employee performance, providing both rewards and recognition, employment law fundamentals and tools for building team capacity will be explored.

At Rensselaer, we maintain that “leadership” involves a learnable set of actions and behaviors that is available to everyone. In this workshop, participants will explore the tenants that comprise everyday leadership and discuss the behaviors that define leadership not as positional or based on title, but rather on values and actions.

Date: Wednesday, April 23, 2025 12:00 PM - 1:30 PM - This series, Helping Students Learn, focuses on research-based teaching theories and methods. It is funded by NSF as part of the MANE RED grant. Each session is led by Eric Burkholder (Auburn University, Engineering Education Researcher). Participants will be able to apply research from cognitive psychology directly to their instructional approach to promote student learning and success. The topic of Session 3 is "Did They Get It? Designing Meaningful Assessments." Registration required.

The HelioCampus syllabus module is available for faculty to access for the summer term beginning on April 28, 2025. Per requirements from the Provost's office, faculty should have their syllabi published by June 2, 2025, two weeks after the start of classes.
