Division of Human Resources Professional Development Seminar: "Supervisory Essentials" | Oct. 28

Date: Tuesday, October 28, 2025 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM - In this seminar, Managers and Supervisors will learn from each other and our Facilitators about important topics such as the Employee Value Proposition and Employee Experience, the six fundamental Leadership competencies at Rensselaer, and experience a “day in the life” of a Supervisor. In addition, the importance of managing employee performance, providing both rewards and recognition, employment law fundamentals and tools for building team capacity will be explored.

NSF GRFP Letters of Recommendation Due November 7th

Date: Thursday, October 23, 2025 (all day) - Letters of Recommendation for the NSF GRFP are due November 7th, BEFORE student application deadlines. All student applications should be reviewed by Betty Madigan to check for compliance with the NEW formatting requirements. Send statements at least a week before the deadline. Additionally, a faculty guide for writing letters of recommendation is available upon request. Requests for information and reviews should be sent to madige@rpi.edu.

Rensselaer Faculty and Staff In Person Workshop - Reviewing Supported Whiteboarding Tools On Campus for Courses or Meetings | Oct. 21

Tuesday, October 21, 2025 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM - This workshop looks at two supported whiteboarding tools available on campus. 1) the whiteboard feature in Webex. 2) a tool is in Box, called Canvas. This session will offer an overview on these two similar tools giving you an opportunity to learn a little more about them and potentially consider using them in your classroom or meeting space.
